Inspired by early social documentary and portrait Photography dating back to the Victorian pioneers, Laura Alice Hart's deliberate and careful work consistently captures the very essence of her subject's character. Laura's typical work takes the form of ethereal portraiture and atmospheric photo stories. Shooting for publications ranging from the Sunday Telegraph to Vanidad, and Drama Magazine, her pictures adopt captivating narratives in which the subject is playing the lead role.
Laura studied photography to post-graduate level at Central Saint Martins. Working extensively in fashion, she has been sought out to shoot the brightest new stars of the performing arts, working with thespians such as Andrea Riseborough, Eddie Redmayne, Juno Temple and Rachel Hurd Wood. In these series Laura manages to combine portraiture and narrative, allowing the actors to immerse themselves in the story whilst their own character remains imperative to the process. In her own words, Laura's aim is to 'engage the beholder and transport them to another place and time’.
Equally imperative to Laura's practise are her self innitiated documentary projects, with two extensive bodies of work currently underway, look out for forthcoming exhibitions; all details of which will be posted here.
